Owen and I clinched the
BC Regional Championship at last weekend's Totem
Rally in Cache Creek.
The odo performed perfectly and had every function that we would ever need to
stay in calculator class. The stock odo would be 0.7km out by the end of
stage. Having an accurate odo is everything.
At the end of day 1, we were lying 2nd overall
with a score of 7. The leader has 20+ years TSD experience as a team and runs
with a full TSD rally computer that constantly calculates their difference from
perfect time... It was obvious on the Sunday that the other top competitors had
their game faces on.

There was some discussion about having our odo checked for
hidden features but they accepted that it was exactly what we truthfully
declared. We have proven that this unit can win a rally outright. There was a
lot of interest in these units.
As for the championship, we were up against 2 other teams. One driver mounted a
3 foot high rock and removed the engine from the car, all because he knew he was
behind and needed to catch up. Bare roads with sheet ice are a terrible thing
when you are pushing hard. It shows just how hard fought the championship was.

The other contenders made it to the end and scored something like 280 for the
entire rally, which in years gone by would have easily given them 1st place
novice.
We have moved the bar for future novice teams.
