Helius Odometer in the Thunderbird Rally 2005

Geoff Gauthier and I were the 2004 West Coast Rally Association Novice Champions this past season.

 

The Champions

 

We ran the whole season using just the stock odometer in our 1992 Subaru Legacy and did the rest of the work with a calculator and our heads.  Thanks to Helius Designs for donating a Helius Odometer to the top novice team for 2004 we are now running an accessory odometer.

We got the odometer installed about two days before the Thunderbird Rally 2005 and were amazed at what a difference it made to our final results.

We ended up finishing tied for 3rd in calculator class, in what is toted as one of the toughest TSD events in North America!  We have also been using the Helius Odometer to do the preparatory work for the 2005 WCRA Novice Workshops and have had great success with the device; it has been measuring bang on to the same measurements as other way more expensive devices from Europe and the United States.  The Helius has proven to us that it has everything we need to progress in the sport of TSD Rally and to excel in it.  Thanks again for donating the prize to the WCRA.
